Aurie Privacy Policy

Overview

Aurie is a bookmark organizer. This policy describes what the web app and browser extension process, how that data is used, and the optional organization tools you can turn on in the signed-in app.

The browser extension does not include AI. It does not record browsing, read the content of pages you visit, or send the page you are viewing to an AI service.

Data We Process

Core App Data

• Account data when you sign in: email address and authentication identifiers.
• Bookmarks you save: title, URL, description, tags, favicon, and thumbnail.
• A screenshot of the visible tab, only when you save a bookmark and screenshot thumbnails are turned on. That image is stored as the bookmark thumbnail.
• Workspace structure you create: spaces, subspaces, sections, and canvas layout.
• Shared links: if you share a space, anyone with its link can view that space's name, section names, and bookmark titles, URLs, and descriptions until you stop sharing it.
• How often you open each bookmark, used to show your most used bookmarks on the new tab.
• Preferences: theme, layout, custom tiles, shortcuts, and typography.
• Extension settings needed for the toolbar button, new tab page, and thumbnail choice.
• If you pay for Aurie Pro or Lifetime: payment status. Card details are handled by Stripe. Aurie stores the Stripe customer and payment identifiers, not your full card number.

Optional AurieAI

AurieAI lives in the signed-in app, on your Profile page. It is off until you turn it on. Turning it on records that you accepted it, including the time and consent version.

• Workspace context you already saved: space, subspace, and section names, plus bookmark URLs, titles, descriptions, and tags.
• Suggestions Aurie generates from that workspace, including any that are applied.
• Smart Sort: the bookmarks in the section you ask to sort, including titles, URLs, descriptions, and tags.

Aurie does not record new browsing activity. It does not read page content from sites you visit.

Data Saved by Earlier Versions

Earlier versions of Aurie could store browsing activity and short page excerpts. Those versions no longer do this. Any of that data still on your account is deleted after your retention period, or immediately when you clear AI memory. Until it is deleted, a suggestion request can include those older records.

How Data Is Used

• To save, organize, and sync your bookmarks, spaces, subspaces, sections, canvas, and shortcuts across devices where you are signed in.
• To show favicons, Open Graph previews, and screenshots for bookmarks you saved.
• To keep your preferences.
• When you turn AurieAI on and choose Generate, to suggest how to organize bookmarks you have already saved. High-confidence suggestions may be applied when you generate them. You can undo those. Every other suggestion stays pending until you approve it.
• When you use Smart Sort on a section, to reorder the bookmarks in that section.
• When AurieAI is on, saving a bookmark that has no description can send that bookmark's title, URL, description, and tags to Anthropic to write a short description, and to Voyage AI so search can match bookmarks by meaning.
• To run a Pro subscription or a Lifetime purchase, and to keep the service reliable and secure.

Aurie does not reorganize your workspace in the background.

Third-Party Data Processing

Aurie does not sell personal data.

• Supabase: account, bookmarks, workspace, settings, and any stored AI data. Encrypted in transit and at rest.
• Anthropic (Claude): only when AurieAI is on. Aurie sends saved bookmark titles, URLs, descriptions, and tags to generate organization suggestions, to sort a section, and to fill in a missing description. Anthropic processes that data under their privacy policy. Anthropic does not use API inputs to train their models.
• Voyage AI: only when AurieAI is on. Aurie sends saved bookmark titles, URLs, descriptions, and tags so it can search your bookmarks by meaning. A search query is sent when you search those bookmarks. Voyage does not receive page content.
• Sites you bookmark: when a bookmark is saved, or when you fetch missing thumbnails, Aurie may request Open Graph metadata (title, description, preview image) from that URL.
• Google favicons: Aurie may request a site icon from Google using the bookmark's domain.
• Google Search: if you turn on Google search on the new tab page, the query you submit is sent to Google.
• Stripe: if you pay for Pro or Lifetime, Stripe processes the payment.

Browser Extension

The extension saves a bookmark when you ask, from the toolbar or the on-page button. It can open Aurie as your new tab page.

To do that, it uses the URL and title of the tab you choose to save, and your Aurie sign-in session stored in the browser. If screenshot thumbnails are on, it captures the visible tab at the moment you save.

It does not record browsing in the background. It does not read page content. It does not call an AI service. It does not collect analytics.

Data Retention

• Account data: bookmarks, settings, and workspace structure stay for the life of your account. You can delete individual items, or the whole account, at any time.
• Suggestions: stored until you review them, clear completed ones, or clear AI memory.
• Earlier AI data: activity and page excerpts saved by earlier versions are deleted after your retention period. The default is 14 days. You can set it from 1 to 180 days. You can also delete them immediately with Clear AI memory.

Your Controls

• Edit or delete bookmarks, spaces, sections, shortcuts, and settings at any time.
• Export your data from Profile.
• Turn AurieAI off from Profile. It stays off until you turn it on.
• Set how long older AI data is kept, from 1 to 180 days.
• Clear AI memory, which deletes stored suggestions and any activity or page excerpts left from earlier versions.
• Remove duplicate bookmarks. This compares URLs already in your account. It is not sent to an AI service.
• Delete your account from Profile. That removes the stored account data, including AI data.

Your Rights

You can access, correct, delete, and export your personal data, object to processing, and withdraw consent for AurieAI at any time. Use Profile, or email hello@aurie.app.
